POLOKWANE – With the aim of spreading this message learners from various local schools, including Pepps College, Mitchell House College and Capricorn High School, recently got together to host a local health and wellness event with an aim of giving back to their community and showing them the rewards that come with leading healthy lifestyles.
The event took place at a popular chill out zone in Polokwane and compromised of health talks and the Mr and Miss Dandelion 2018 beauty pageant.
Before the pageant the contestants where educated on the various ways through which they can care for their health and so doing boost their self image.
The brains behind the initiative, Rethabile Molepo a Pepps learners and Miss Galaxy International 2015, explained to Review that she saw a need to assist her peers boost their self confidence so that they can tackle life’s challenges head on.
“In competing in several pageants I have realised how easily demotivated people can become when they do not progress in their desired direction. I have therefore made it my mission to help instill confidence in my fellow teens.”
She added that this event was not a once off and together they plan to continue with promoting health and wellness in their community.
During the event guest speaker, Ms Carron Ann Gwilym shared a few words of motivation with the attendees as well wished the contestants all the best of luck with their journey as leaders who will bring forth change and positive development in the community.
