LIMPOPO – Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has strongly condemned acts of mob justice and killings which still remain prevalent in Limpopo.
This condemnation follows the torching of a shop and a motor vehicle in Tshamahansi Matjeke, Mahwelereng, outside Mokopane.

On Wednesday night, 12 September, three suspects attacked a local shop demanding money and stabbed the shop owner with a sharp instrument. The landlord (47) arrived for intervention and allegedly shot one of the suspects to death.
According to police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the local community then mobilized and began looting the shop and later burned it together with the owner’s car before fleeing the scene.
“Police were summoned to the scene, rescued the shop owner and began with their initial investigations. Cases of business robbery, arson and malicious damage to property were opened against the mob and a separate case of murder was also opened,” he said.
General Ledwaba added that people who continue perpetrating these types of crimes are going to be dealt with harshly and without compromise.
