Muni warns of scam using the Executive Mayor’s name

POLOKWANE – According to a statement released by the Polokwane Municipality, they were recently made aware of a scam whereby a woman asks for donations from the public and contractors using Executive Mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng’s name.

The municipality says the impersonator asks for donations using an SMS and other forms of text messaging from the following number – 072 544 8230.

“It should be placed on record that this number or any other number that may be used does not belong to and is not linked to the Executive Mayor of Polokwane. The matter will be brought to the attention of relevant law enforcement agencies for investigation,” they said.

The municipality has urged anyone who has been approached by the woman or has fell victim to the scam to report it to the police.
