All water meters in Polokwane to be converted to prepaid, says Muni

POLOKWANE – The City of Polokwane is currently rolling out new smart meters.

The project, which commenced in September 2017 in Ward 19 has to date, rolled out to other areas in the city including Wards 8, 11, 12, 17, 20, 22, 23 and 26.

According to a statement released, as of 1 August 2018, the Polokwane Municipality will be converting water smart meters in the city from post-paid to prepaid.

All individuals and companies that are conducting work on your premises will have identification in the form of the following: National Identification; respective service provider branded identification and a letter of introduction.

“Please note that all conversions are to be conducted at no cost to you as the resident. Should you be requested to pay for any service regarding the Smart Metering project, you are advised to contact the municipality or report the incident to your nearest police station,” the municipality said.

“The City Council requests that you co-operate with all the above,” the statement concluded.
