Enjoy the essence of relaxation

POLOKWANE – Their menu ranges from platters, sides and hot beverages to desserts and cocktails. The restaurant is situated at 77 Biccard Street and offers everything delicious in one centrally located restaurant.

Their signature cocktail is the Essence Martini which is a double Hendricks Gin, shaken with ice and a shot of lime cordial in a martini glass, coloured with a few drops of grenadine to give it a red bottom.

The restaurant is owned by two ladies, Octavia Khoza, a member of the biggest motorcycle club in the SADEC region, Sapa Yopa, and Nthabiseng Moselakgomo.

It can cater to approximately 50 seated customers and offers a relaxing atmosphere and comfortable environment. The restaurant opened its doors in November last year and employs nine people.

“We started the restaurant when we realised there was a need for a place where people can come and relax, catering for a more mature clientele. Maturity isn’t directly related to age, it is the way you conduct yourself. We cater to busy people who have busy lives. After work or during business hours they come to our restaurant to relax and enjoy our cocktails, food and the ambiance,” said Khoza.

She added one of Essence Premium Lifestyle’s highlights is that it is centrally located in the city’s Central Business District. It also has ample space to host any kind of event or function, whether a birthday party or a corporate get-together.

“We love to work with people and we enjoy cooking so this business gives us the chance to live out these passions. The idea for Essence came from our own experience, wanting a place where we could relax as busy business women in a mature atmosphere. Food and drinks mean a lot to me and a place like this is where you make a friend and meet business associates, especially after work when people want to relax and enjoy some high class comforts.” Khoza added they wanted to offer the community something unique, especially in the way of food and drink.

“Our goal is to make sure our brand becomes well-known as a place where mature people can come and enjoy themselves. In the long run we also want to have a place on which we pride ourselves as well as offer employment opportunities for the youth,” Khoza explained.

Her advice for the youth and entrepreneurs is to not undermine their ideas. “We are not born to be losers. Trust your instincts and abilities as you are the only one who understands your destiny and what you are capable of. Take advice when it is given and build your own empire to benefit your community,” she concluded.
