Four arrested in connection with fatal attack on farm in Makhado cluster

LIMPOPO – The Bandelier Police have since arrested four suspects in connection with the shooting of security officers at a farm in between Elim and Vleifontein area on Monday evening.

“It is alleged that four security guards were posted at the Avocado Farm when they were confronted by the four suspects. One suspect was armed with a firearm and allegedly shot randomly at the officers, wounding one. The suspects then assaulted the wounded officer before they fled the scene,” said Police spokesperson, Constable Maphure Manamela.

The injured security officer was taken to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries, added Manamela.

“The intensified investigation by the detectives ensued immediately and subsequently four suspects (aged between 24 and 36) were arrested at Magangeni village on Wednesday,” she confirmed.

The suspects will appear before the Louise Trichardt Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Police investigations are still underway, concluded Manamela.
