Eight suspects arrested during Operation Fiela II in Musina and Makhado

LIMPOPO – The relentless effort to fight crime through the multi-disciplinary ‘Operation Fiella II’, by police in Limpopo, continues to yield wonderful and exiting results, says police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

This became evident when eight suspects, between the ages of 31 and 53-years-old, were arrested in Musina and Makhado for crimes ranging from business robberies, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition to possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles.

In Musina, five suspects were arrested for a business robbery which occurred at a local super market.

“The suspects entered the shop pretending to be customers and one of them produced a firearm and demanded money, while others helped themselves to the cash and cigarettes,” he explained.

A customer was also robbed off his ceĺlphone and identity card before these suspects fled the scene in a green BMW.

“Police were notified and reacted swiftly and the suspects were cornered and arrested along the N1 road near the Baobab Toll Gate.

The following items were recovered during the arrest:
– One pump gun.
– Six rounds of live ammunition.
– One revolver firearm with three rounds of ammunition.
– Six cellphones
– One Isuzu double cab.
– One BMW.

In Makhado, an intelligence led joint operation composing of crime intelligence, Musina Detectives and support from the Louis Trichardt Town Watch went all out in tracing a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

A Isuzu double cab, which was stolen in the Deneysville area was successfully recovered and three suspects were arrested.

“It is believed that the arrested suspects might be linked to the smuggling of stolen vehicles from South Africa into Zimbabwe,” Ngoepe added.

All arrested suspects will appear before the Musina and Louis Trichardt Magistrates Courts soon.

Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Jan Scheepers, has applauded the excellent job done by the men and women in blue in the Makhado cluster.

“All criminals out there who continue with their dirty tricks and perpetrating any criminal activity, must know that we are coming for them,” General Scheepers concluded.
