Playing their part in education in Limpopo

Molatelo Mashabane (Director of Polokwane School of Law Society South Africa), Dorcas Dube, (Communications Manager, Partners for Possibility), Nakedi Mashoene (Principal from Kgakoa Secondary School), and Mpumi Mabuza (General Manager of Brand SA).

POLOKWANE – The event was aimed at encouraging business leaders as well executives to partners with schools as well as principals to equip them with essential management skills.

“We as Brand SA have noticed that the schools that we have paired with business leaders, have shown a vast improvements in managements skills and administration as well as improvements in the overall academic performance of the learners.

“Teacher participation and teacher attendance improved which in turn improved the overall functioning of the school. As Brand SA we have a responsibility. Firstly, to market the country intellectually, also to build pride in patriotism and active citizenship among individuals.

“We are here to encourage individual citizens with business acumen including state institutions as well as government departments to play their part in education by giving their time,” explained Mpumi Mabuza, General Manager of Brand South Africa.

Partners with Possibilities, according to Communications Manager Dorcas Dube, is looking for business leaders to partner with schools that under resourced to play their part in education and improve school performance.

“There are 25 000 schools in South Africa and 20 000 are dysfunctional, hence the need to have businesses partner with these schools and join the programme to help develop these schools. We partner principals and business leaders who will teach and equip the school management with skillful management skills that will help them to run and their respective schools efficiently,” she said.

Business leaders such as Molatelo Mashabane from the Law Society of South Africa, Nakedi Mashoene (Principal from Kgakoa Secondary School), Gerhard Franken (Chairperson of the Polokwane Tourism Agency) were among the guests who conversed about cutting edge leadership development processes as well as ways of how to make a meaningful contribution to education in South Africa.

Mashoene said she was looking forward to learning management skills so she could be able to lead and run her school effectively.
