Farmer (82) in hospital, wife dead after attack on farm outside Bela Bela

LIMPOPO – The couple were allegedly confronted by a group of armed suspect at around 08:30 this morning on their Farm TNT outside Bela Bela.

“It is alleged that four unknown armed suspects, two wearing balaclavas and hand gloves, held the domestic worker at gunpoint and instructed her towards the owners house. At the house the suspects demanded money from the elderly farmer. During the incident the farmer was shot and injured and his wife fatally shot,” reported Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The farmer is in a serious condition after sustaining several gunshot wounds and is still recuperating in hospital, confirmed Ngoepe.

An unknown amount of cash was taken during this incident, however, it is not clear at this stage what are other properties were taken. This will be determined through the crime scene investigation which is still unfolding, he said.

The suspects in this matter are still unknown and there are no arrest.

The police in Bela Bela have launched a massive manhunt for a group of armed suspects and urge anyone with information which can lead to their arrest to contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 0798945501.
