POLOKWANE – Twelve people were arrested in the Westenburg policing area weekend for the possession of marijuana, and they appeared before the Polokwane magistrate’s court last Monday.
Aged between 18 and 25, the suspects were arrested during a stop and search done by the Westenburg police. They were released on R500 bail each and the case was postponed to later this month.
Capt Mohlaka Mashiane, Westenburg police spokesperson, urged residents not to get involved in criminal activities, as they would be caught and face the full might of the law.
Still in the Westenburg policing area, the police arrested a 29-year-old woman in connection with the murder of a 27-year-old woman at a tavern in Ladanna in the early hours of last Saturday morning.
The women were drinking together when an argument started between the two, allegedly over a boyfriend.
“In the heat of their argument, the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the neck with a broken bottle. She was certified dead on the scene by paramedics.
“The woman was arrested and she appeared in court on Tuesday. The case was postponed for seven days for a formal bail application,” Mashiane said.
