LIMPOPO – A 43-year-old man who was arrested for the murder of  his wife (37) appeared before the Mutale Magistrate’s Court yesterday, where he was denied bail.

He was remanded in custody for ‘mental observation’ and to allow for further investigation. He is set to reappear before the same court on 29 August.

LIMPOPO – The 43-year old suspect was arrested at Muledzhi village in the Mutale Policing area outside Thohoyandou.

The suspect had a domestic dispute with his 37-year-old wife at their home.

He attacked her with a sharp instrument and decapitated her in the process.

“The police were notified after the incident and reacted swiftly by arresting the suspect,” said police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

He says the police condemn the continuous attacks on women in the province, originating from domestic violence.

“This heinous tendency must come to an end. If any couple experiences any form of a domestic related dispute, they must consult the police, social workers or any other relevant authorities for intervention, rather than killing each other,” he advised.

The suspect will appear before Mutale Magistrates Court on Monday 17 July, on a charge of murder.
