POLOKWANE – Police in Maleboho in the Senwabarwana area outside Polokwane have arrested five suspects aged between 26 and 49-years-old, including a pastor.

The suspects were arrested for various offenses ranging from attempted murder, assault with grievous bodily harm to malicious damage to property.

Police spokesperson, Lt Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says the conflict emanates from tense conflict in the Achibult/Mokhurumela village between two groups from a tavern and a church which are next to each other.

“The conflict began on Sunday, 16 April and carried on till Monday, 17 April in which shots were fired from both sides and a number of cars were damaged by throwing stones. Several people were injured,” he said.

Ngoepe says three firearms were confiscated from both groups and the suspects will appear before the Senwabarwana Magistrate Court soon.

“Police investigations are still continuing and we will continue to patrol the area,” Ngoepe concluded.
